Worming my way in, Wednesday

Don't you know I'm still standing
better than I ever did
Looking like a true survivor,
feeling like a little kid
~Annie & Elton

Four weeks tomorrow since I came to take over this too quiet geriatric ward they call a home. I was quite the rage at Pet Smart last Saturday, and even had an application submitted, but Mosaic Lady and the nice TAAG Lady just didn't feel that it was my perfect placement.

See that red sweatshirt I'm sleeping on in the laundry/litter/mud room? Walter slept on that sweatshirt during his move from Colorado to North Carolina, and it was still in his carrier on the last day of his life. It came back from the fur doctors, but he did not. You can see some of his furs on it if you look hard. It has not been washed since.

Mosaic Lady nearly threw the red sweatshirt away (along with the black t-shirt she wore that horrible morning, covered with his furs), but she did not. She folded it up and stuck it in the corner of this counter where it sat for three months, sorta out of view, sorta in view. Walter used to nap on this counter atop a big comforter. That did get washed and put away because it was too sad, always empty.

I started napping on this funky, thin, yellow hand towel. One day Mosaic Lady unfolded the red sweatshirt and put it on top of the yellow towel for me.
For her?

  4. Annie, that is so sweet to sleep on Walter's special sweatshirt. I'll bet you are picking up some of his vibes, and he is watching over you! You just keep on worming your little way into everybody's hearts!

  5. Yes, you look very elegant on the red towel. Luna also loves to sleep on comfy towels and sweatshirts and the like, so that's another thing you have in common besides your lovely black fur.

  8. Annie, tell Mosaic Lady that mine Mo is sentimental bout fings like that too (or is it just mental?). You know, stores haf their Howloween stuff out already an most shelters won't dopt out black cats that time of year.

Sadie, I still fink you're cuter than Annie. Willie's had a few pictors up, but not Bianca.

Sumtimes I find fings that smell just a little of the cats afore us. I can smell that they were furry happy an well loved. That's what Annie senses frum Walter's scent. Purrs (and a tear for Walter)

  9. hmmm...turning down potential homes and giving you precious family heirlooms to sleep on...sounds like the ML wants you to stay. (plus, Victor's right about no black cat adoptions near Halloween)

  19. Annie:

I think that you are helping ML heal her heart break and that is a really GOOD thing. I also believe Walter is saying let Annie in she's the spark everyone needs. Just be sweet to my dear darling Willie.

  21. Hi, you are very cute. Mommy wishes that you weren't so far away so that she could adopt you, but we keep having to remind her that she has us already. Not that we wouldn't mind you joining us...well, maybe Casey, but we won't say anything to her....

We hope that you can stay with the Mosaic Lady so we can see more of you on this blog. But we will be very happy for you too if you find a gurreat furever home.
