Tattle Tail Tuesday #4 - Mosaic Lady: Master Gardener

Kitties, for today's Tattle, I thought I would show you around my so-called "yards" and "gardens".
I am certain that you will be very impressed by the diligence with which Mosaic Lady "maintains" them.

Here you see Willie and me enjoying the verdant, terraced gardens, teeming with fresh vegetables and many kinds of bulb flowers.

Here is a better view which shows you the unrelenting commitment that Mosaic Lady has to caring for Walter's Memorial area.
(This makes me glad that I am not her favorite cat.)

I am trying to determine if I can squeeze my wide body between the slats to get off the back deck because I think the leaf pile is big enough to swallow me whole.

I am especially fond of this lush "flower bed" next to the carport.
Martha Stewart, don't hate me because I get to live here!

I am going to enter this "planter" in a national Container Gardening contest.
I am sure to place high, don't you think, Kitties?
(Maybe if they had a category called growing cigarette butts in a planter used as ashtray by previous tenants.)

This is a very good photo that shows you not only the leaves on the front porch by the door, but also the dead bugs and their webs clinging to the house.
I am certain pretty sure that is not a wad of gum on the porch.

Here I am trying to find the stepping stone path that leads from the porch over to the front deck area.
I may be here until summer.

Mira the front "lawn"! Wouldn't this make everycat proud to call their own?
I hope Victor and Bonnie's Mom sees this. Her self-esteem will skyrocket.

Actually, the lawns looked exactly like this last Dec. 3 when the family landed here. Mosaic Lady did nothing at all to them, and come spring, the grass was plentiful and magically leaf-free. (You may recall just how plentiful from previous posts.)
I am confident that ML will put the same amount of effort into the project this spring.

Be careful Mosaic Dawg!!!

You do not want to sprain your knee again upon impact with 8 tons of leafy resistance.

Here we are on the front deck area, atop the "grouting table".
Mosaic Lady clearly takes great pride in the condition of her work station.
I am becoming increasingly depressed.

I decide to survey the forest, determined to find a tree whose leaves are not sitting in my yard.
Yet.

Success!
(Leaf has a flavor!)

Like many things in life, Kitties, my "yards and gardens" are more attractive when viewed from a distance.
And through a dirty window.

Oh my. We hire someone do our yard. It not great, but it not that bad. At least we do not get leafs...ur...At least leafs make good mulch to fertalize the lawn for next year. I do however think I can beat that potted plant you got.

Oh Annie! That is some yard.Looks like ours. The Lady that lived here before loved nature and did not want to "hurt" anything so never cut the weeds or trees.Mom wants to fix it up. She "thinks " about it.She thinks a lot.At least the weeds got cut!

Annie, I think your mommy and my mommy would love each other. Every time you tattle it is like you are talking about my mommy! Our yard is nothing but trees and leaves. Our front porch is covered by leaves, spiderwebs, and birdseed from our birdfeeders. Our back yard is mud with patches of weeds. Mommy likes to claim that she is keeping it "natural" for all of the wild furries and birds, but I know it is really just because she is lazy.

I think your yard and garden looks very nice! We only have a tiny yard, smaller than the size of our living room! Most German yards are tiny, because there isn't a lot of space available, and a lot of people live here. Half our yard is brick patio, the other half is grass. Both of my humans have "black thumbs" and kill any plants they go near, so we don't have anything planted in our garden/yard.

We call mom lazy but she does try, at least she cleaned up the leaves. In the warm weather she spends more time making da yard and garden look nice den da inside of da house! Now she'll spend da winter trying to fix da inside...sigh, just give it up mom, yoor lazy and thinking about it doesn't fix it..

Annie, Mosaic Lady is cultivating the natural wildflowers native to the area. It's all the rage in Madison. The non-native plants are so damaging to the natural ecosystem.

Sadie, Mom an Dad call me clumsy, but really, I just didn't expect a package of pads RIGHT THERE when I jumped into the closet. It wasn't there the last time. Really, if she'd keep her products organized, I wouldn't be in such danger!

Wait'll you see OUR back yard! Oh, and the dandelions are not laziness, they are ingredients for a gourmet salad. Duh.

Martha Stewart can kiss my fuzzy... tail.

PS Neighbors see the yard but not inside the house, so my beans make more effort there. Considering our yard condition, you don't wanna see the howse.

Hahahaha! Great tattle. Sadly, our yards are looking like yours but we may have something that is a bit worse- we have a fish pond with no fish in it! All of the fish died and the beans never replaced them. Its very sad.

Hahahahaha! Tattling is very fun. I think a few pounds of leaves is a small price to pay to get to live somewhere surrounded by so many beautiful trees.

We are very lucky because where we live, the community association takes care of the yardwork for every house. They mow, edge, trim the hedges, fertilize and do weed control. Of course, there is a hefty fee, and you do not have the option to opt-out of the service.

Ha, ha, ha.....great tattle Annie! My Mum has a black thumb and kills any plant that comes within sight of her. Luckily my Mum doesn't have to do yard work as we pay strata fees for someone else to do it, otherwise our yard would look like yours. I must say it looks rather "rustic" though.

We had our first snowfall today. When you guys get snow all the leaves and flower beds will be covered and look just beautiful!

Hahaha!

Well, Annie, part of that is because most of the plants die this time of year. It can't be helped. The leaves though, yes there's a lot of them. Of course where we live, no one rakes leaves, either :-p So your ML is not the only lazy one.

While you may have to look out a dirty window, you do have an excellent perch to do so on. Count your blessings, girl ;-)

hahaha oh that garden looks superb! It's like romantic or something - all leafy and windswept.

Unlike my garden which is covered in cat sh*t.

Well, you know how it is. x

I love tattle tail tuesday. Great idea! I don't know, I think the humans just get lazier by the day. And they think we're lazy.

I think your mommie's expert landscape and gardening skills are about the same as our mommie. She thinks the old dead plants have character.

You look very pretty laying on that bloo ruggie

My Mommy says you need a "Mosaic Man" to do the yardwork. That's her secret to a lovely yard!

Jimmy Joe said...

Wow, you're like an investigative reporter, Annie. Actually, you should be glad that ML doesn't have those evil leaf-blowing machines around. Sometimes scary men come to our yard and after they've pushed the yard-eating machines around, they blow these devil leaf-machines and I think I'm gonna lose an eardrum.
Your buddy, Jimmy Joe

You're a wonderful tattler, Annie. But you're also very lucky, having all that yard and trees and space and leaves and all. We live right in the middle of the city, and even though our yard is big, it isn't fenced, so my human says it isn't safe for us. :-(

What a wonderful piece of writing (and pictures to go with)... was smiling all the way through. We don't concern ourselves with leaves hereabouts; and too believe in the au nauturel look for what there is of yard round the house.
