No Place for a Meezer Monday

Great location! Sucky amenities!

The Mosaic Lady has been feeding a BEE-U-TEE-FULL (her word) stray Meezer for the last few months. She and the dawg spotted it right after we moved here and they began their morning walk ritual. It lives just down the road from us. We aren't sure what kind of Meezer it is, but it's the white kind with light gray ears and tail. Of course the eyes are topaz blue, Mosaic Lady droooools. The Meezer is very shy and runs under the house where it lives, (probably scared about the dawg). The Meezer told Mosaic Lady its name was "Robbie". That's what ML heard, but Meezer spelled it for her: "Rabi". Mosaic Lady told us this cat is a Sufi mystic. Whatever. All we know is that it's another body we might have to share our snuggly surfaces and litter boxes with.

Neighbors guess that it may have been left behind by some STOOPID humans that lived in the Stonehouse (see below for that happy story). They had TWENTY cats in there and dozens more kittens locked in some trailer Mosaic Lady doesn't even want to hear about since it's not happening any longer and she needs no more unhappy cat visions to obsess over than this world already offers her. The idjuts moved to South Carolina and "couldn't gather up all the cats", we were told. Doggie Dookie Heads!

Anyway, the Meezer looks really nicely filled out to the Mosaic Lady. Who knows how long it fended for itself before she started feeding it, and we read on google that Meezers are excellent hunters. It seems very energetic and active, and for all we know, may just love leading the life of a happy wanderer. As strange as it sounds to all us cats who blog, not every cat wants a forever home, or an inside home. However, the very land that all these old, abandoned houses are on is being cleared as we blog for a HUMUNGOUS 250-home project. (We love the noise and traffic changes coming our way, of course we do. Yes, indeedy. Our lease is up 12/1.) The Stonehouse you see below is right across the street from the house where Mosaic Lady feeds Rabi. She used to feed it on the slightly-covered front porch. You can see in the photos above that all of a sudden the porch's roof is now the porch's floor. Now she feeds it under the house (in a lime green double-bowl, of course! Even, and especially, abandoned cats need bright colors in their lives!). It is only a matter of days before the remaining structure is chewed up and spit out by those huge Cats (which look an awful lot like the same breed that Skeeszix saw out his window recently.)

Here is our dilemma...should Mosaic Lady get a humane trap and corner Rabi? She's never trapped a cat before. She'd like to be sure it's not creating babies, and see that it gets tortured with all those shots. While she labors under the delusion that she would "foster" it, you can already guess the Mosaic Lady is hankering to keep it. But she is also mindful that bringing an adult into the fur fam right now with hyperthyroid, chronic UTI Girl, Bianca, and cranky old Willie (and the dawg having surgery tomorrow...watch for our Tumor Tuesday post! Big fun around here lately!)... may not be so sane. And then there's feral, skittish, scaredy Sadie. She might not take to an adult cat well at all. The dawg? Mosaic Lady controls her. (Mostly. Assuming she lives. Gulp.) So many unknowns, although we would also be fine with (PREFER says Bianca), it living (mostly) outside, just so it stayed around here and let us be family to care for its needs, like Rocky used to do.

But maybe the kitty likes its pawloose life of adventure? What do you all think? Mosaic Lady wonders about the right thing to do for all concerned every day. You don't have to listen to her obsess about it like we do (thank us in Newman's organic canned turkey!) The day to decide is finally upon us and we are still unsure. Like the Good Cats' Dad says, our head says one thing and our heart says another. You all know how that shit goes.

Mosaic Lady found a Meezer Rescue Group near us last night but after surfing the site and seeing all the great Meezers already up for adoption in NC...we're back to thinking we might be sharing stuff again. HALP US PLEEZE! Any of you Meezers have NC connections? Any of you wonderful readers who live in the neighborhood want to get in on this action?

Is this cat gonna be ours? And if so, NO BLOG until it is 15.5 years old. WE had to wait that long!

That is hard. If no changes in the neighborhood were happening we´d say leave the meezer and just provide some food and water.
But if the whole neighborhood is going to be flattened and then new houses will be build - the meezer will loose his hunting grounds...
we tend to the trapping and sharing, or maybe you will find another wonderful home for him.
One thing: we do agree on the NO BLOGGING FOR THIS MEEZER rule!

Oh, yoor mom is gonna hafta try to trap da meezer cuz it's territory is gonna be GONE! We foster cats (only fur a cuppul months at the most) and it's not so bad. They get their own room and we don't bother them...except Speedy, he loves baby kittens and insists on being with them as much as possible. You neffur know, maybe Rabi will fit in rite away, maybe not. But she can't stay out there with all doze building machines running around destroying and rebuilding stuff!

Poor Meezer! :( It is so sad how some people treat animals - how could they abandon such a beautiful Siamese?

I think you should try to trap Rabi, if only to keep him safe. Hopefully you can foster him and find him a wonderful Forever Home. It is very nice of your mom to feed him and to think about fostering him! You clearly have a kind, generous human!

I hope your dog's surgery goes well tomorrow.

We fink Mosaic Lady should trap the meezer to keep him safe frum the house-wreckin CATs. Look fur a TNR group in yur area or friends of ferals. In Madison, we haf Dane County Friends of Ferals who would probably help if you was in Madison.

If ML does trap him, it'd be best to keep him separated or outside for awhile. Can she build a shelter or convert a shed? Mom saw kittens lifin in a converted chicken coup with chicken wire fencing to keep them (mostly) in.

Good luck!

Oh my, this is awful. What terrible people to abandon those cats. We don't live anywhere near NC, but we wish you luck in helping those poor kitties.

Thanks for all the good ideas and support everyone. Mosaic Lady emailed the Meezer Rescue person for our area a bit ago, so we'll keep looking for some help with this. We think with all the health stuff goin' on in our fur fam the last few months, Mosaic Lady wants some help and support with this one. Not her usual "I'd rather do it myself" style. Trust us. Thanks again.

Wowie, poor Meezer! I'm so sorry to hear about his unfortunnate sichuashun. Your momma is a really great lady to wanna help him out.

I think it would be a really good idea to trap and foster him, and maybe keep him if he can get along with youkitties okay. After you trap him you kin get him to the v.e.t. to make sure he ain't got nothing bad that he'd pass to other kitties, and then maybe you could see how he does with alla youkitties or your momma could work on findin' him a wunnerful forefur home.

Best of luck, and I know that Meezer will be real glad fur the help. That big earth-movin' CAT sounds furry scary!

And I'm sendin' purrrr-ayers for the woofie! I hope his surgery goes really really good.

I have to agree with the others, especially because the area is under construction, the poor little meezer is probably scared out of his wits. Your local humane center should be able to provide you with a safe trap, and some vets will spay/neuter strays for little to no money. If you decide to have him/her in the house, you need to make sure that it is disease free so you don't get sick. I have never gone astray when I have followed my heart. I think the heart tells us what our mind wishes it could. Good Luck.

Poor Rabi. The people who abandoned him are doo-doo-heads! ML is nice to feed him. I think it would be good for him to be trapped so he can have his hoo-ha-ectomy and shots. Then you can see what his temperament is like (if he is truly feral, or may be adoptable). Good luck!

I hope your Mom tried to catch the Meezer...He deserves a better home than that...Preferably with humans that can love him!!!

I hope you can catch the Meezer. Not fair that some stoopid people left it behind.

Trapping da meezer would be best, just to make sure it is out of harm's way.

I hope that da pretty meezer can find a lovely home either with you guys or another home.

I was an abandoned meezer, too, and I was glad to find my furever home. I am sure she would be too!

Ahhh, well as we are rescue kitty cats mostly because our human can not help finding abused or abandoned babies, we think the kitty should be trapped and taken to a vet to be neutered or spayed at least because the population doesn't need more homeless animals. Then if you all can not find a no kill shelter we would try and find a home or at least care for it after the surgery until it can fend for itself once again if you release it back to where it came from.

Google for trap spay/neuter and release and you will find some help!

We hope the woofie does well in surgery and gets better soon and peace be on your house.

I second what Skeezix said about Siamese Rescue. If you can't get help by e-mail there is a secret back door way to talk to them....sign up for the SICC forum. Go to meezer.com and click on forum. It is owned by Siamese Rescue and there are TONS of rescue fosters and organizers on there.

Good luck with the meezer! I know the ML is a wonderful person to help this sweet kitty.

You made ML's day! What a great tip. We just joined (under OUR NAME) and posted on the forum in Meezer Central. We've sent a bunch of emails out around here to so we'll get this kitty helped one way or the other. The house is still standing today, so...

Thanks to everyone else for the support and ideas. It's really nice to not feel alone, like that Meezer must.

And thanks, too, for the nice words and prayers for our crazy dawg. The vet drop off was not pretty this morn (she got MUZZLED for the first time EVER in 9years!), and we should get the post-op call any second.

Thank you for your wonderful comment! We take "certifiable" as the best compliment ever, it means we do our job well!!!!!
Will we see you at Dragonheart´s birthday part? Miss Peach is hosting it.

Hi, there,

Yes, going to SICC is a good idea! I foster for the Siamese Cat Rescue Center in Virginia and I just came here and read your blog.

Did any of our NC volunteers contact you? If not, you can send an emailto vasrc@siameserescue.org and ask to have your email forwarded to the NC Regional Coordinators. We have a large presence in NC and someone should be close enough to help you.

Thsi cat is not safe where it is and its habitat is about to be demolished, so you have to do something. You could probably borrow a trap from your local animal shelter or SPCA. It's not hard to trap a cat; I've done it. You know not to take the cat to a public shelter, right? where's he's likely to be PTS.

I'll alsopost on the SICC site to respond to your post there.

Oh, our humans love meezers, so it's a good thing we don't live near you, or they'd be bringing it my house ... along with all 15 of us former ferals they rescued, and the four still-feral kittens they rescued a couple of weeks ago! We're at full occupancy!

We agree, though, at the very least you must make sure the meezer won't make more meezers!!
