Mancat Willie Monday - placid and self contain'd

This was taken in my last year in Colorado. I lived there over TEN years. That is 2/3 of my life (so far.) From California to North Carolina via New Mexico and Colorado is a long road for a mancat cat to travel. Good thing for good company!

I decided today that I like North Carolina just fine. Less snow and less stairs in our new house! And the yards are awesome with many places to walk, climb, hide, and nap on picnic tables and benches and porches. It's getting cool suddenly and the leaves are starting to fall. Every morning the back yard is a different color. Fall and winter have always been Mosaic Lady's favorite times of year, but suddenly she is mourning the passing of spring and summer. It happened so fast, and so much of it was a blur of grief after Walter died in May. I think she is dreading the cold and dark and wet a tiny bit this year. Fortunately, unlike Colorado, the winter here will not be six, never-ending months of cold and dark and snow.

Mosaic Lady has many things to focus on through the end of the year, including and especially her mosaics! She will start posting new pieces to her blog a lot more frequently, so please visit her there. We will still post here when we can because we love to show off, but if you don't see us around as much it is because we are shifting our energies into other areas now and turning inward, with the shifting and turning of the season.

I think I could turn and live with animals, they're so placid and self contain'd,
I stand and look at them long and long.

They do not sweat and whine about their condition,
They do not lie awake in the dark and weep for their sins,
They do not make me sick discussing their duty to God,
Not one is dissatisfied, not one is demented with the mania of owning things,
Not one kneels to another, nor to his kind that lived thousands of years ago,
Not one is respectable or unhappy over the earth.

~Walt Whitman

Sumtimes Mom says she'll just take me an run off to a hotel fur a weekend. I's not sure I'd like that, but sum days the boy seems to make efurryone upset. All weekend, it was like he was hi on catnip an efun I got nervus.

Sadie, my poor deer, I hope you don't haf to go to the v-e-t! I barfed yesturday, too, but Mom sed I would if I kept eatin my fur affer she brushes me! Today, Bonnie barfed in amost the same spot, but she does that amost daily. I know you'll all be happier when the fosters make like a tree an leaf.

Oh, Fall colors - round here, all the trees are in diffrint stages of color insteada followin a pattern. An Mom's not happy it rained today cuz she needs to make more piles of leafs. I don't know why. Mom also sed she gots fambly in Colorado who say winter runs from August to July. Ours isn't too bad, eifur. xxxooo

Willie, I must say I like your friends there. Kitten statues are so much nicer to live with than actual kittens. They don't eat your food, pounce on you, take over your house, poop in your litterbox (or anywhere else), or even shed on your blankets. Yes, I'd MUCH rather have those garden kittens. ::sigh::

That is a really cute picture of you laying with the kitty statue.

I'm glad you like NC now. You look very nice in those pictures.

I am sorry ML won't be posting as much to this blog, but I will check in and look for any updates she may post.

Have a great fall :-)

I am so delighted to hear that you are enjoying living in North Carolina. It is such a lovely state and has good weather too. Even winters won't be as harsh as the Colorado ones you have seen.

Mom hates winter, she's becoming less enamored of summer lately too. This fall has been kind of odd, our trees are mostly still green! Dad sez da only thing we can do about the weather is complain....

You look like a very cool mancat there, Willie, lounging on the deck. My momma hates the winter and likes it hot and sunny. Me and Coco are always having disagreements with her about that.

Nice picture of you sittin' in da sun. Love da kitty statue too. Sounds like a whole lotta thinkin' goin on in your world. We like that - changing of the seasons thoughts. It really is a time to shift our energies into other things we've been putting off all summer as well. Owr mom bean's been sick all week. We finks it's because it's the only way she can change focus.
Great words of wisdom by Walt. More thinkin'.
